The Water Cube

Although I grew up in Beijing and have visited many times, I still don't know much about Beijing geography. So I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my grandparents live right next to the Olympic Village! On my first night, my super cute and super talkative 9-year-old cousin Niu Niu (or Kelly, that's her name in English class this year, last year it was Wendy) took me on a guided tour. The first thing we saw was the Water Cube aquatics center. Simply breathtaking view at night. For a stand-alone structure, I really felt it simulated the feel and movement of water; almost like an ice cube melting. It was especially refreshing to see on such a humid night of 90 degrees. Read more about the Water Cube here.
Here Kelly plays tour guide:

Niu Niu is so cute! I want her to teach me to speak Chinese! The only thing I know how to say is Beijing Wang Yee Nee (?) . . . welcome to Beijing.
